Stories of Humankindness
Hello humankindness. It’s more than a tagline, it’s how we provide treatment and the way we treat patients. Because the way care is provided is often as meaningful as the care itself. These are a few stories of humankindness in action …

Janice, MD along with all the nurses and staff gave ample care of the time I was at the hospital. I appreciate them all although I don't recall everyone's names. I felt the dignity in protecting my privacy within the emergency department from the moment I arrived, until I left just a few short hours later. Thank you for your prompt kind care.

I am so very thankful to all the nurses on floor 3, but especially Delaney! She made my experience of being in labor with my first child the best in every way. She listened to me, understanding how I was feeling, and ensured I felt as comfortable as possible during the most important and vulnerable time of my life. She also treated my family with such kindness that they, too, loved her! Delaney went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of, and I knew I was in good hands. I would go back to St. Rose because of her and her team of amazing nurses!

During my recent hospitalization, I had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Ndukwu, who had also assisted me during a prior visit. From the very beginning, he greeted me with a warm smile and a compassionate attitude. It was clear he was well-prepared and understood the situation I was facing. He explained everything in clear, understandable terms and walked me through the next steps. He made sure I understood and took the time to ask if I had any questions. I did have a few, and he answered each one thoroughly and knowledgeably, which gave me great peace of mind.

Dr. Skinner is not only an amazing physician but a great human! You can tell that he truly cares for others in the way he treats his patients but also his fellow doctors and nurses around him. I am so blessed to have his assistance in delivering 2 of my babies! Thank you Dr. Skinner for being you and for helping me and so many other women become new moms!

First of all, I need to say that all of my nurses and doctors were wonderful. I was extremely pleased with my care after my surgery. Rudy was exceptional. I was experiencing severe discomfort that night and was afraid things might take a turn. Rudy came in and assured me that he would check on me every hour. He also told me to buzz him in between if I needed him. He told me not to worry, and that I would be okay. He kept his word, and gradually the pain subsided. I can never thank him enough for all he did for me. He brought me back to being comfortable, and just knowing he was there for me made all the difference in the world. He was my guardian angel.

I am hearing impaired, and the entire team took their time to explain anything I needed. Everyone was very friendly and kind. I am so grateful for the excellent care I received from Dr. Fontes. He explained everything I asked about and made sure I felt comfortable and informed. Brynn was wonderful and communicated with me through text, which helped me tremendously. I truly appreciated the thoughtfulness and respect shown throughout my experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Fontes to anyone.

From the second I walked into the labor and delivery department at this facility, Renette made my experience absolutely incredible. I have dealt with many doctors, surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists in my lifetime. I’m talking hundreds. Renette was the BEST nurse I’ve ever met. I do not mean that lightly. She was quick on her feet. Absolutely kind. Funny. Beautiful. Her presence and energy took away every single bit of anxiety I had because I knew that she cared about me and my baby.

I received the best care available. All the nurses were wonderful, but I mention one in particular his name is Alejandro and he took such good care of me. Thank you Alejandro and all the staff - you made a bad time very good.

I came to the ER thinking I had had a stroke. They got me right in and started taking vitals and getting the pic line for meds and getting my information. They sent me to get a CT scan and ordered up an MRI. They did some physical tests and later determined that I did not have a stroke but a different medical episode. Everything was explained to me as we went along. I felt valued and that they were really concerned about me. As far as ER visits go, this was a very positive one. I was astounded at how busy they were and was told that it is like that all the time. I didn't get her name, but the ER Charge nurse is a rock star. She managed the chaos expertly, ensuring that everyone got what they needed.

I can’t begin to express how truly blown away by the entire staff and experience I had at St. Rose Hospital!! Not one time was I not treated with passion and care from start to finish. I came to have an angiogram not thinking I would need more than a stent or two. When I was told I needed triple bypass surgery, I kind of freaked out. But because everyone made me feel important to them, I went into a bad situation with a hopeful & positive feeling. The surgery went smoothly and my recovery staff was awesome!! Thank you to everyone who took a very scary situation into a great experience!! You’re all my saints and I thank you from the bottom of my now healthier heart!!

I felt you truly cared for me and helped me get the medicine I needed to start healing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Food Services Specialist - The fellow that brought me my meals was so kind and caring, he even changed a meal just for me. Way to go, keep up the good work!! :)

Thank you God for our cherished Adrian sisters, who upon arriving via train in Las Vegas, and despite their fears and anxieties, stepped off the train and stayed and baked their “angel bread.” They sold loaves of bread to raise money for medical supplies and for a place to care for workers in need of medical help; just look at where we are today with our hospitals! I pray everyday for our beloved Adrian sisters and our numerous staff who work relentlessly to care for thousands of patients who enter our doors for medical help, every single day! This is not just a story, but a true miracle of life saving efforts from all of you!

Not one, but TWO, life saving visits to St. Rose Siena. The ER, Dr. Lipman and staff saved my double transplant brother who came in with pneumonia and sepsis. His kidney and pancreas were saved after two weeks in ICU, went home and back to Chicago where he had 21 years post transplant. Two years ago, I presented at the ER with AFib and a flutter. Immediate cath, MRI, and a cardiogram saved me from a stroke & heart attack. Dr. Wood and Dr. Atif and staff. Thank you for being here.

I was admitted to Dignity Health San Martin Campus. I had exceptional care in both the ER and the 2nd floor. I do not remember the names of the night staff in the ER except for Carl but everyone there was excellent. On the 2nd floor, all of the nurses were great and Drs. Igtiben, Dr. Trent Richardson, and Dr. Ashraf Mohammed showed caring concern and were highly appreciated. They were excellent.

I was admitted to the Emergency Dept. at your hospital. I just want to thank all the medical staff for your most comforting and professional help to me. I found all the personnel there to be very kind and sweet which made my time there very calming under the circumstances. Thank you to all of you and may God bless you in your profession.

When you are sick and in the hospital, it is nice when the staff makes you feel like family. The cardiology unit is such a place. They make you feel like home. Keep up the good work.

"The quick work of the L&D nursing team saved my family’s lives. I came within five minutes of being a single father."

"A few weeks before my cardiac event, I had been exploring the Inca Trail at 12,000 feet in Peru. If I had had my myocardial infarction there, I would not be relating this experience. My cardiologist said I was the luckiest guy he had ever met, touched my hand, and announced that he was heading to the casino to see if any of my luck rubbed off on him."
